Oko Poly Final Year Student Commits Suicide Over Failed Relationship

A young man whose identity is unknown has purportedly committed suicide as a result of a broken relationship.

According to a source, the event occurred on Friday at the Federal Polytechnic in Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra.

According to reports, the man, a final-year polytechnic student, was already doing his Industrial Attachment (IT) in preparation for graduation when he was dumped by his sweetheart.

Iyke Orji, a student at the college who revealed this, described the deceased as “full of energy and life, and an intellectual lad with near to distinction (First class).”

Orji further said: “He’s currently in his IT days, a student of Public Administration. He decided to stay in Oko for his one year industrial training, (but) instead of focusing on his training, he decided to search for true love.”

According to the narrative, his fiancée recently broke up with him, and the news crushed him; on Friday, when he couldn’t take it anymore, he drank sharpshooter insecticide and died.

Mr Chijioke Ibeziakor, the institution’s public relations officer, was unavailable to comment on the incident because calls to his mobile phone were not returned.

The state police command’s spokesperson, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, was unavailable to confirm the incident as of press time.
