Senator Kabiru Marafa, the Zamfara State Coordinator of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), has claimed that there is nothing wrong with a Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian ticket, calling the entire topic hypocritical.

Marafa told journalists during a consultative meeting with diverse organizations in Gusau, the state capital, that the party was determined to success in the 2023 general elections.

According to him, the APC always encourages member unity and preaches peace. He warned Nigerians not to be misled because the government is not run by religious ideas.

Muslim-Muslim Ticket: CAN Opens Up On Making Deal With Bola Tinubu

“Nobody should deceive us, Nigeria is not governed in the line of religion. There are 18 political parties in Nigeria,” he said.

“If one party says they are doing Christian-Christian ticket and another one says ‘Muslim-Muslim ticket,’ leave the one that is doing the one you don’t like and go to the other one you like. What is the big deal?”

Marafa told Nigerians that the Zamfara electorate would give the APC’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, and his running partner, Kashim Shettima, more than the 25% required.

The former senator representing Zamfara Central stated that the North-West Region was the political party’s strongest hope for victory in the country’s election.

Marafa’s opinions on same-faith tickets are similar to those of several religious leaders, including His Eminence, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja.

Muslim-Muslim Ticket Protesters Storm The APC Secretariat

In October, the bishop defined the APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket as a political move made by the party in order to win the 2023 election.

According to him, the choice is not a hard and fast law that all Nigerians must follow, and as such, citizens have the liberty to choose their voting pattern and who they want as their leader in 2023.

He emphasized that every Christian, like every other Nigerian, would have to make their own decision about which political party to vote for, and that the Catholic Church would not guide anyone on whom to support.
