Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi has stated that he makes no apologies to Ndigbo for reiterating his loyalty to All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, is running a Muslim-Muslim ticket with Kashim Shettima, which is being opposed by the country’s Christian populations.
Remember that Umahi moved from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, citing the PDP’s constant marginalization of the South-East geopolitical zone, particularly denying Ndigbo the opportunity to produce the country’s President of Igbo ancestry.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Umahi declared his support for Tinubu-Shettima during a town hall meeting involving all traditional rulers, political leaders, and elders council of the State with APC presidential candidate, Tinubu, at the new government house, centenary City Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State.
The governor emphasized that he had no regrets for publicly supporting Tinubu-presidential Shettima’s bid and defecting to the APC.
According to him: “Everywhere you go in Ebonyi State is APC. We are only Obidient to you Bola Tinubu. We have no apologies. I’m speaking any how because I’m standing on our performances that we have achieved in Ebonyi State.
“Anyone who wants to challenge us, should tell us whether we have not fared better under the APC government. I’m the first son of President Muhammadu Buhari. I hope you (Tinubu) will take me also as your son? I know it’s done.”

Tinubu responded by pledging to keep his word and fulfill all of his campaign pledges to Nigerians if elected president in the 2023 general election.
He said: “I’m a promise keeper. I keep my words. We are here celebrating the good works done by a professional Engineer, David Umahi. Many of you are traveling very far and wide building a friendship across the Niger, not minding tribes.”
Earlier, the chairman of the Ebonyi State Traditional Rulers’ Council, HRH, Eze Charles Mkpuma, who spoke on behalf of all the monarchs, charged Tinubu with giving the South-east area the opportunity to produce the country’s next Senate President if he is elected President of Nigeria.
