Aminu Muhammed Adamu, a liberated student of the Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa State, who was previously jailed and tried for tweeting about First Lady Aisha Buhari, is set to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari after regaining his freedom, according to his family.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Muhammed regained his freedom after Aisha Buhari withdrew the charge she had asked the police to institute against the 23-year-old.

Anaedoonline.ng previously reported that Muhammed, a final-year student in the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology, posted on Twitter in June 2022 that Mrs Buhari had suddenly gained weight after participating in plundering the nation’s meager resources while the masses suffered under her husband’s regime.

The President’s wife is well-known for her frivolous excursions to Dubai.

“Su mama anchi kudin talkawa ankoshi,” the Hausa-language tweet reads.

The post, which was accompanied by a photo of Mrs Buhari, translates roughly as “Mama has eaten poor people’s money and is now full.”

According to his friends, he made the post because he was frustrated by the countrywide university strike.

The strike began in February 2022 and lasted eight months, ending in October.

However, on November 8, the 23-year-old student was apprehended by campus security and was beaten up after his arrest around noon.

Meanwhile, Muhammed’s guardian, Kabiru Shehu, verified on Friday that the student was in Aso Villa, waiting to meet with President Buhari.

On Tuesday, Muhammed was secretly arraigned in court by police.

The arrest and subsequent arraignment generated fury on social media, with many people calling the First Lady’s actions an abuse of authority.

On Friday, prosecution counsel Fidelis Ogbobe announced the withdrawal of the case against Muhammed, saying Mrs. Buhari took the action due to the intervention of well-meaning Nigerians.
