The fire destroyed the second level of the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
As at the time of reporting this article, the reason of the Monday fire breakout had not been determined.
Maj. Gen. Jimmy Akpor, Director of Defence Information, verified the occurrence and stated that the situation had been brought under control.
According to him, the situation was brought under control thanks to the combined efforts of military and Federal Fire Service personnel.

All personnel and civilian workers were also evacuated safely and without incident.
“Accordingly, normalcy has returned. Investigation to determine the cause of the fire incident has commenced.
“We thank the Federal Fire Service and the entire public for the continued support and goodwill to the Armed Forces of Nigeria,” he said.
