Odume, Obosi, Anambra State’s Mater Foam Industry, which is close to St. Albert Catholic Church, has been completely destroyed by fire.

Although the fire’s origin is yet unknown, it is believed to have started around 6 am on Saturday.

A nearby witness claimed that the fire started in one of the building’s corners before spreading to the area where the foams were stored.

No lives had been lost as of the time this report was submitted, and the overall cost of damages could not be determined.

Martin Agbili, the state fire chief, confirmed the occurrence in a statement and stated that the fire service sent three fire engines and firefighters to the area as soon as it received the distress call.

Agbili said, “At about 0615hrs (6.15am) of today 24-12-2022, Anambra State Fire Service, received a distress call of fire outbreak at Mater Foam Industry, Obosi .

“Immediately, we deployed our three fire trucks and our firefighters to the fire scene. We swift into action, controlled and fought it to a standstill.

“The cause of the fire is not yet known. A lot were saved as we prevented the fire from spreading to other nearby building. No life was lost during the fire incident.”

He advised the residents to avoid things that can cause fire outbreak, especially during this peak period of harmattan.

“Avoid anything which can cause fire outbreak at this season. Switch off all electrical and electronic appliances when not in use,” he added.
