It was a display of class, culture and beauty at the 97th year birthday and 59th Ofala Outing of Igwe Kenneth Orizu III of Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The 59th Ofala festival took place on Wednesday, 28th December 2022, at the palace of the traditional ruler in Nnewi.
Igwe Orizu III is arguably the longest-serving monarch in Africa, the 20th Obi of Nnewi and also the paramount ruler of the famous ‘Japan of Africa’, the industrial hub of South East.

The prestigous event kicked off with a Church service held at the Igwe’s palace with Nnewi diocese well repesented by Archdeacons and priests of the diocese.
The Church service was presided over by Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi, the Bishop of Nnewi Diocese.
St. Thomas Anglican Church choir thrilled the audience with a mesmerizing rendition of song, to the physical admiration of Igwe Nnewi.
The royal cabinet and Igwe’s family presented a giant glorious cake in celebration of his 97th birthday. The bishop of Anglican Diocese said prayers and the Igwe, flagged by his son’s and some cabinet members did justice to the cake.
The highlight of the event was the moment the Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) and former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi arrived the palace in company of the National Organizing Secretary of LP, Mr Clement Ojukwu (Gbazuoagu).
The four community (Otolo, Uruagu, Umudim and Nnewichi) dance troupe thrilled the audience in fun and style.
The event was graced by Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP); The executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo; Hon. Nonso Smart Okafor, the current House of Assembly member, representing Nnewi North Constituency and candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency; Hon. Peter Nwosu, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Nnewi North House of Assembly; Hon Sir Ndubueze Ezeani (Nwanayoeze), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for nnewi North, Nnewi South, Ekwusigo constituency, the chief medical Director (CMD) of Nnewi Teaching Hospital, among many others.

There was no chieftaincy titles conferment at the event, due to insecurity crisis that has affected the state/zone.
However, the absence of one of the three Obi’s, Chief Afam Obi, the Obi of Uruagu Nnewi is a deep concern
