The All Progressives Congress (APC) is reportedly requesting a postponement of the general election due to the country’s economic crisis.
This comes just 24 hours after the APC ceased its campaign activities in Ogun and Lagos States.
According to reports, the ruling party is plotting to move the election date by four weeks, with Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai spearheading the effort.
According to an APC insider who talked to the aforementioned media, the decision to postpone the election is owing to the current economic instability and protests by many Nigerians over the new Naira scarcity and fuel.

The source said: “The APC is seeking a postponement of the election by four weeks and the move is led by Governor Nasir El-Rufai. I think it has to do with the current chaos being experienced as a result of the naira and fuel scarcity”.
Meanwhile, Governors Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), and Bello Matawalle (Matawalle) sued the federal government over the Central Bank of Nigeria’s policies (CBN).
The governors asked the court in an ex parte motion filed through their lawyer, Abdul Hakeem Mustapha, to halt further implementation of the naira redesign policy due to the hardship imposed on their people who are unable to exchange their old naira notes for new ones, particularly those living in rural areas.
They also asked the court for an interim injunction to prevent the Federal Government, acting alone or through the Central Bank of Nigeria, Money Deposit Banks, or their agents, from enforcing the February 10 deadline for exchanging old 200, 500, and 1000 dollar notes for new ones.
