Samuel Ortom, the governor of Benue State, has prayed for a new Nigeria in which peace and security are guaranteed while also urging people to join the frontline in rescuing the nation from all ills.

His Chief Press Secretary, Nathaniel Ikyur, released this in his new year’s address.

In his opinion, the governor, the CPS reports, “if we consciously participate in the political process to elect competent leaders into various offices in 2023, the vision of a new Nigeria can be realized.”

Governor Ortom advocated for an egalitarian society in which each individual is free to pursue their legal profession in accordance with the rules of law and order, without fear of harassment or intimidation, in any location across the nation.

Ortom argued that it is now essential for citizens to desist from trivial matters of religious or racial prejudice, and he urged the Federal Government to work to address insecurity problems that threaten Nigeria’s continued existence objectively in a way that provides everyone comfort.

In 2022, he lamented the unpleasant state of the security situation and urged security personnel and other good individuals to take additional measures to stop the situation’s deterioration. For the sake of future generations, Nigeria should never again fall into the hands of terrorists in 2023 and beyond.

In Benue, he claimed that the state government had increased the number of vehicles and motorcycles available to the Benue State Community Volunteer Guards and Livestock Guards in order to supplement the services provided by the state’s traditional security agencies and combat terrorist and criminal activity there.

He reaffirmed his earlier advice to the State’s citizens to always cooperate with security agencies by sharing helpful information and offering any other support required to make their operations easier, saying that “security agencies cannot do it alone unless citizens complement their unceasing efforts.”

In spite of the country’s current security and economic issues, Governor Ortom wishes Nigerians a happy and prosperous new year in 2023.
