Yesterday, a group operating under the auspices of the Anambra North Elders Forum, ANEF, rejected Senator Stella Adaeze Oduah’s effort to win the PDP’s nomination for the Anambra Senatorial Zone seat and return for a third term to the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

The group asserted after leaving a meeting in Otuocha, Anambra East Local Government Area, that Senator Oduah, who has served as the senatorial representative for the Anambra North Senatorial zone for almost eight years, has done her fair share to represent the interests of the residents of the Abambra North Senatorial zone.

Speaking to reporters following their meeting, Chief Nathaniel Onuora, the chairman of the Anambra North Elders Forum (ANEF), said their stance is even bolstered by the fact that Senator Oduah has not done a good job representing the zone over the past seven years.

In the red chamber, “Odua’s voice was not clearly and loudly heard in defense of her people as others were doing or introducing interest laws that would benefit their constituent,” claims Chief Onuora.

We, the members of the Anambra North Elders Forum, ANEF, decided to reject Senator’s third term aspiration to represent the Anambra North Senatorial zone in the Senate after our meeting today here in Otuocha, the seat of the Anambra East Local Government Area.

Senator Oduah hasn’t adequately represented our zone for the past seven years, which supports our stance.
In the red chamber, she did not speak up loudly and clearly to defend her constituents from other lawmakers’ actions or to advocate for laws that would help them.

“She has not perform well, we are not aware of any bills and motions she sponsored in the upper chamber of the National Assembly in almost eight years of her representation of the zone filed woefully to empower people even with the huge money that accrued to her office.

“We want a senator that will be accessible, a senator our people can easily reach not one that hardly come near the people. We don’t want somebody who would be distracted because of constant attendance to cases with anti corruption agencies.”
