The Second Niger Bridge project completed by the President Muhammadu Buhari government, according to Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo state, is sufficient for the Igbo people of the South-East geopolitical zone to support Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the party’s presidential candidate in 2023.

This claim was made by Uzodimma during an interview on Politics Today on Channels Television on Thursday.

He said, “Senator Bola Tinubu is the presidential candidate of the APC, the party in power. From 1970 when the civil war ended, the Igbos asked for the Second Niger Bridge, and government after the government came with promises that were not fulfilled.

The majority of the federal roads in the region have received enough care, according to Uzodimma, the coordinator for Tinubu’s campaign in the South-East, and commuters are no longer inconvenienced as they once were.

“It is not about whether Bola Tinubu is from the same place with me; it is about the programmes, to the extent that the manifesto of our great party has convinced and endeared the people. I’m very confident that the party to beat in Nigeria is the APC,” he said.

In the South-East, Uzodimma also declared that he is leading a coordinated campaign for all APC candidates and expressed confidence in the success of all of the party’s candidates for governor, House of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate seats.

Christmas: FG To Open Second Niger Bridge On December 15

On December 15, 2022, the federal government temporarily opened the bridge to traffic to improve traveler comfort during the holiday season until the project’s completion.

The 1.6-kilometer-long bridge connects the states of Delta and Anambra.

Shehu Shagari, a candidate for the National Party of Nigeria at the time, first suggested building the Second Niger Bridge during the electoral campaign in 1978–1979 (NPN).
