In the ongoing political rallies taking place in the State and around the country, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has fought against denying political parties access to venues that are owned by the government.

He gave the Labour Party (LP) permission to use the State stadium for its rally, which is slated to take place in January, and authorized the Ministry of Youth and Sports to do so.

In a statement distributed to reporters in Abakaliki on Thursday by Mr. Chooks Oko, his Special Assistant on Media, Umahi gave the order.

According to the statement, Umahi stated that he delivered the order while speaking to commissioners and the leaders of several state and local government ministries in his hometown of Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area.

According to the Governor, as long as a political party complies with the requirements of the State’s current Executive Order for the use of such facilities, it shouldn’t be prohibited from using government-owned facilities for any legal activity.

“The Labour Party has applied that they want to use the stadium on Jan. 11.

“They must be allowed to use it, but they must comply with the State Executive Order.

“No Party should be denied the use of our facilities, but the laws of the State must be obeyed,” he stated.
