Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, spokesman for the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), has urged President Muhammadu to release Nnamdi Kanu from custody to prevent his demise from failing health.

In his hometown of Akokwa, Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, Ugochinyere made the announcement during a news conference on Wednesday.

The spokesperson for the opposition claimed that Kanu’s attorney had notified him that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader required urgent medical attention.

He insisted that letting Kanu off the hook would uphold justice and fairness and contribute to the South East’s return to peace.

Ikenga questioned why the federal government has declined to pay attention to the causes creating unrest in the South East, arguing that the Niger Delta insurgents were dealt with in order to restore peace in the area.

He also denounced the charge of terrorism brought against Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), calling it unfounded, unjustified, and the result of prejudice against the country’s south.

Ikenga, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Ideato Federal Constituency, said that he would humiliate his rivals in the election.
