Awoleye Oluwatofunmi, a 23-year-old Nigerian Yahoo boy who is accused of defrauding an American, Vonapolouis Moss, of $1,000, has been detained by the Police Command in Kwara.

This information was provided by the state’s police commissioner, CP. Paul Odama, on Friday while the suspect was being paraded before reporters at the police headquarters in Ilorin.

He claimed the suspect tricked the victim out of $1,000 by posing as an American on the social media app TikTok under the name Howard Adams.

He said that the victim arrived in Ilorin the next day by plane and was met by the suspect before the latter was apprehended on the basis of useful information.

Before being rescued by police officers, the suspect allegedly deceitfully stole from the victim an undefined sum of money.

He went on to say that the appropriate authorities have been informed for future action.

The State Police Command has transferred the victim into secure custody in the interim while she is being transported back to the US.
