A Nigeria Police detachment is said to have stopped another effort by a group linked to the Biafra Nations League (BnL) to hoist the Biafra flag in Ekpri Ikang, Bakassi LGA, Cross River State.

The event occurred today about 3 p.m., when 32 BnL members were believed to have gathered at a hideout, plotting how to raise the flag, when the Police arrived on a tip.

The agitators were claimed to have thrown stones at the police before fleeing the scene, according to eyewitnesses.

They claimed that police used tear gas on suspected members of the Biafra Nations League, or BnL.

Princewill Richards, the leader of BnL, said that the aim was to hoist their flag.

He stated that their organisation has a militant section called The Black Wing that does not gather in an open environment like the BnL members. He went on to say that both groups are aware of how they work.

Authorities, it should be noted, have always prevented this organization from flying their flag in Bakassi.

The BnL has frequently been involved in hit-and-run actions in the Bakassi peninsula with Cameroonian and Nigerian forces, with recorded losses on both sides.
