BVAS: 436 PUs To Have Mock Voter Accreditation Conducted By INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has finalized plans to undertake a statewide mock accreditation exercise utilizing its Bimodal Voter Accreditation System BVAS as part of its self-assessment procedures in the run-up to the February/March general election.
At a meeting with National and Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) on Friday in Abuja to review strategy, INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu made this announcement.
The 436 poling units where the drill will take place on Saturday, February 4 are.

As a result, on the basis of equality of the nation’s 109 senatorial districts, 12 polling units have been designated in each State of the Federation and four in the Federal Capital Territory FCT for the election.

INEC To Perform A ‘Mock Accreditation’ Before February Elections

The commission also hailed the enthusiasm shown by Nigerians in collecting their Permanent Voter Cards PVCs, noting that in Lagos for instance, which has the highest number of registered voters in the country, it delivered 940,200 PVCs from the recent voter registration exercise (June 2021 to July 2022) for both new registrants and requests for transfer and replacement of cards.

“As of yesterday Thursday 26th January 2023, 839,720 PVCs have been collected representing 89.3% of the total figure”, Yakubu stated.
