The collection of the Permanent Voters Card (PVC) is an important exercise that will influence the fate of Nigerian electorates in the upcoming elections, and Anambra State’s Nnewi – North Local Government Area is not left out in the fight for better political behavior among the public.

Residents of Nnewi-North LGA came out in force on January 27th to collect their PVC as INEC’s official deadline for PVC collecting approaches. The high turnout was as a result of the closure of the Nkwo Nnewi market and other markets to encourage people to pick up their PVC, which has now been transferred from the wards to the Local Government.

Engr. Christian Ezeh Obiora, chairman of the Nnewi-North TC, encouraged people to wait patiently since orderliness will assist them receive their PVC.

“When I came here in the morning, the gate was crowded due to the collection of PVC but there is good security and the collection has been arranged according to wards for a quicker assessment of the PVC .”

Speaking to Anaedoonline on the closure of the famed Nkwo Nnewi market this morning, he stated that the activity is to make it easier for everyone who has registered to receive their PVC.

On the procedures involved, Emeka Okafor, the secretary of the local government, noted that the process had been flawless but for the requisite bureaucracy and Nigerians’ proclivity to wait for deadlines before catering to such demands.

Among the community leaders encouraging the people is Hon. Amobi Adukwuru, President General of the Otolo Nnewi Community, who has been lobbying for the collection of PVC in public areas. He praised INEC’s efforts and encouraged everyone else to take advantage of this chance, saying, “your PVC is your waepon.”

Okechuku Mbanugo, an Anglican Evangelist who recently received his PVC, urged Nigerians that now is the time to put their PVC to good use. He also recommended INEC to hire more people to speed up the process.

People who obtained their PVC successfully expressed delight and optimism to vote for their favourite candidate on February 25th.
