Senator Chimaroke Nnamani explains why he backed Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate (APC).

The lawmaker claimed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) violated its constitution by undermining the notion of power rotation.

Nnamani made the announcement on Sunday in Abuja.

According to him, the PDP’s constitution requires that significant political positions be rotated between the South and the North in order to ensure fairness, parity, and justice.

Nnamani stated that the outcome of last year’s presidential primaries enraged southern PDP supporters, notably the G5 Governors who insist on upholding the North-South rotation idea.

The statement partly read,” The PDP constitution clearly stated that it shall adhere at all times to the policy of the rotation and zoning of the party and public elective offices in pursuance of the principle of equity, justice and fairness.

“Having critically examined the situation, I found Bola Tinubu [APC presidential flagbearer] as the preferred candidate from the south to foot the bill in 2023.”

According to media reports, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike is dissatisfied with the party’s leadership.

They have been demanding for Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP’s National Chairman, to quit.
