After winning his 22nd Grand Slam championship at the Australian Open, Novak Djokovic recovered the top spot in the ATP rankings revealed on Monday.

The 35-year-old Serbian leapfrogged Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, who missed the competition due to injury and slid to second.

Djokovic’s 10th Australian Open triumph puts him at the top of the world rankings for the 374th time since July 2011.

Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece, who lost to Djokovic in straight sets in the final in Melbourne on Sunday, has surpassed Norwegian Casper Ruud to take third position, matching a career-high ranking he first earned in August 2021.
Andrey Rublev of Russia, who was crushed by Djokovic in the quarterfinals, advanced to a career-high fifth place.

The shock elimination of Djokovic’s long-time rival Rafael Nadal in the second round saw the Spaniard drop four places to sixth.

Tommy Paul of the United States, who also reached the final four, broke into the top 20 for the first time as he soared up the rankings by 16 places to 19th.
