Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, paid a courtesy call on Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, Sultan of Sokoto.

According to reports, the former Vice President paid a visit to the king at his palace in Sokoto on Tuesday, before of the PDP campaign rally in the state.

During his visit, the Sultan warned politicians against criticizing one another in the midst of the country’s political unrest.

Abubakar emphasized that Nigerians from all political parties must work together with honesty and integrity, and that politicians must fear God.

He said: “Whatever you do with the fear of God, if you believe God gives and God takes, you will succeed and you will end well in this life. This life is a short stay here. We must work for eternal life there.

“And in doing so, we must never insult people. We must never abuse people. We must never break relationships and friendships, no matter what political party we belong to.

“It’s very important – God gives power to whom He wants at the time He wants, and He will take it away from you at the time He wants without even warning you.

“We believe that when we are doing so with honesty and sincerity, we must fear God almighty. And I believe that’s the bottom line.”’

According to news sources, Atiku was accompanied by his running mate, Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa; the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu; and the Director General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation (PCO), Aminu Tambuwal.
