UPDATE: Court Sends Security Guard To Prison For Sleeping On Duty

Danjuma Abdullahi, a security guard who slept on duty and stole motorcycles, was sentenced to 12 months in prison by an Area Court in Jos on Thursday.

Mr Abdullahi was sentenced by Judge Thomas Ajitise after pleading guilty to dereliction of duty and requesting leniency.

The inmate was given the option of paying a N100,000 fine.

According to the prosecution, Insp Ibrahim Gowkat, the matter was reported to the C Division Police Station on January 3 by Messrs Musa Alhassan and Musa Ali.
