The Kano Court of Appeal has removed Mohammed Abacha as the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate.
On Friday, the court overturned a High Court decision that had acknowledged Abacha as the state’s PDP flag bearer.
The court also ruled that Sadiq Wali, who had previously been recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission, is still the legitimate governorship candidate.
The three-judge panel led by Justice Usman Musale ruled anonymously that Abachi lacked locus standi to contest the primary that produced Wali since he did not vote in the primary election.
