Shehu Sani, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, has stated that the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, cannot part with N2 billion for mobilization.

According to news sources, Obi gave N2 billion to the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) over the weekend in order to allow his presence at churches to support his presidential ambition.

CAN’s President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, responded quickly, calling the allegation unfounded and a failed attempt to draw the Christian body into politics.

Okoh stated that CAN will remain apolitical and will neither endorse or mobilize support for any candidate in the next elections.

Also, Obi disputed a viral “petition” suggesting that he handed two billion to churches around the country, adding that the petition was “concocted to destroy his hard-earned name”.

Senator Sani reacted to the news by saying Obi could not have parted with N2 billion based on their recent meeting at the Nigeria Labour Convention (NLC) delegate congress.

Sani said in a tweet via his verified Twitter handle that the LP standard bearer cannot give anyone such a large sum of money since his front pockets have a sealed cover.

“I don’t think Peter Obi can easily part with N2 Billion. Last week we met at the ICC Abuja, venue of the NLC delegate congress, even his front pockets have a sealed cover,” he wrote.
