Oyelami assuaged people’s concerns about whether the election would be held in the wake of the country’s current turmoil by declaring that the poll would go ahead as planned.
“There is no issue with the INEC. “Arrangements have been done to ensure that this election takes place as planned,” he emphasised.
Mr Oyeyemi Oyediran, the State Commissioner of Police, stated in his speech that 7,000 security personnel will be on duty for the poll.
Security officers to be deployed, according to him, include police officers, troops from the Nigerian Army, officers from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Nigeria Immigration Service, and the Nigeria Navy, among others.
The police boss said, “Over 7,000 combined security personnel are to cover the election. We are assuring the public that we are ready for the success of the forthcoming elections.
“I want to inform the public that they should rest assured that the poll is going to be peaceful and we are all ready for that purpose. Thuggery alongside other related vices will not be allowed.”
