The Central Bank of Nigeria has refuted a bogus press release issued on the First Lady’s Instagram profile, Aisha Buhari.

According to the announcement uploaded on Aisha’s page on Tuesday, the old N500 and N1000 notes should be legal tender for the next 70 days, until May 1, 2023.

To debunk the news, the CBN issued another statement, labelling Aisha’s as “false news.”
“For the avoidance of doubt, and in accordance with Mr. President’s broadcast of February 16, 2023, the CBN has been directed to Exclusively reprint and circulation the old N200 banknotes, which are scheduled to circulate as legal money for 60 days up to April 10, 2023,” the CBN stated.
