The Nigerian international had scored in five straight matches in the Italian top division before Napoli traveled to Germany on Tuesday for their Champions League match against Europa League holders Eintracht Frankfurt. The Napoli No. 9 continued his hot streak by opening the scoring against the German Bundesliga team.
Osimhen broke the score five minutes before halftime by converting a beautiful assist from Hirving Lozano, bringing his season total to 20 goals in 24 games across all competitions.
The 24-year-old received a penalty in the 34th minute when Aurelio Buta fouled him inside the penalty area, but Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was unable to score.

Reacting to Napoli’s opener, Aluko said on BT Sport, “You see straightaway as soon as they win the ball back, they are direct. You see Osimhen really attacks the box, gets into the box ahead of the defenders.
“Hirving Lozano great ball, inch perfect ball and a good striker’s finish. Osimhen is on fire.
“Everything he touches is going in, 20th goal of the season. Brilliant goalscoring record so far this season.”
Osimhen’s other goal in this season’s Champions League came against Ajax Amsterdam on matchday four in the group stage.
