Nigeria Decides: Atiku Sweeps Yobe State, As Peter Obi Comes Second

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, has been named the winner of the Yobe State presidential election.

According to news reports, the State Returning Officer, Prof Umar Pate, claimed that Atiku received 198,567 votes.

The former Vice President defeated his closest challengers, Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, by over 45,000 votes (NNPP).

Tinubu received 151,459 votes, Obi received 2,406 votes, and Kwankwaso received 18,270 votes.

Ahmad Lawan, the Senate President and an APC chieftain, hails from Yobe State.

Lawan was elected to the Yobe North Senate seat but was unable to deliver the state for his party’s presidential candidate.
