SEC 200m Meet Victory Excites Ofili

The South Eastern Conference 200-meter race was won by Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili on Sunday.

After winning her maiden SEC 200-meter gold medal, Ofili maintained her outstanding 2023 campaign. Her mark of 22.52 seconds was the quickest in the second final of the championships.

The Louisiana State University student wants to beat her 22.36-second 200-meter indoor personal best and African record in the upcoming competition.

Ofili ran a new 22.36secs to win the women’s 200m heat event at the Tiger Paw Invitational two weeks ago.
The African Games silver medallist surpassed her Indoor Personal Best and 200m African =record of 22.46secs.
“It’s good to come here and win the gold. I understand the time isn’t that fast, but we are working on getting faster,” Ofili said in an on-track interview posted on her school’s Twitter page.

“The time is going to show one day, but I’m happy I am living here with something.”
Ofili, a Commonwealth Games silver medallist, also competed in the 60m final but finished sixth in 7.24secs, her slowest time in the event this season.
