Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Labour Party’s vice presidential candidate, claims that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) failed to publish the presidential election results because Peter Obi won.

Mr Baba-Ahmed told media on Wednesday that Mr Obi had won the poll despite INEC’s statement that Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress had won.

“In our opinion, we won this election. They refused to submit the results. They refused to use the INEC result viewing facility in order to defeat us; we won,” he stated.

Nonetheless, he stated that no amount of inquiry would ever lead to Mr Obi, himself, or the entire party achieving anything other than peace and serenity in Nigeria.

“The only language we know is peace. If Nigerians are going to achieve peace through peaceful protests, so be it. We believe more and more in Nigeria and the Nigerian people.

“Here we are, less than eight months old, and we won the election in a country where there is an eight-year concurrent government,” he said.

Mr Baba-Ahmed stated that the party’s position was that the alleged outcome did not meet the bare minimum of a transparent, free, and fair election.

He also stated that the elections were jeopardized by the heinous acts, voter intimidation, and suppression.

“Please, be assured of our determination to fight the injustice that has been perpetuated on Nigerians through all legal and peaceful means.

“We implore you all to please remain peaceful and calm, as our fight and determination for a new Nigeria is just beginning,” he said.

Mr Baba-Ahmed also urged Nigerians to continue to support the party and vote massively in the March 11 gubernatorial and state House of Assembly elections.
