Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret. ), the president, arrived in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Thursday to dedicate a 50 megawatt power plant and other worthwhile initiatives carried out by the state government.
He visited the state for one day on business and attended the inauguration.
According to The News Agency of Nigeria, Governor Babagana Zulum, members of the state and National Parliament, and several senior government officials welcomed Buhari upon his arrival.
Major General Ibrahim Ali, the theatre commander for the North-East Operation Hadin, as well as the heads of the security services and representatives from the community and the clergy were present.
The 50 megawatt Maiduguri Gas Power Plant, built by the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, is anticipated to be officially opened by Buhari.

He will also inaugurate the cancer centre located at the University of Maiduguri and the newly constructed Tashan Bama Motor Park, consisting of 475 shops and an administrative complex.
Before proceeding to the Maiduguri Monday Market which was gutted by fire recently, he will also unveil the Ahmadu Bello Way, Shehu Sanda Kyari, Lafiya and Mogoram roads.
Buhari would be conducted round the scene by the General Manager of the market, Mustapha Loskorima.
