Cross Okonkwo, a former Big Brother Naija contestant, has apologized to Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi for a recent inflammatory comment.

Earlier, news outlets claimed that Cross had faced internet backlash following accusations that Peter Obi’s presidential aspiration is selfish.

The reality TV personality made the claim in a clip from a political gathering dubbed “Atiku Youth Global Outreach” that went viral.

Cross, a supporter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, questioned in the video why Peter Obi is being selfish by running despite knowing he cannot win the 2023 election.

The statement earned him various criticisms; some called it insensitive, while others questioned why he entered the BBNaija competition knowing he would not win.

Nevertheless, during an Instagram live session, the BBNaija star stated that the footage in which he made the statement regarding Peter Obi was incomplete.

He claims that many people have preconceptions about him, and he apologizes for the statement.

In his word: “Honestly guys I just want to say I am sorry, a lot of people got misconception about me. I am actually sorry for calling Peter Obi selfish.
