Adams Oshiomhole, a former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said that either Peter Obi or Atiku Abubakar is lying about the outcome of the 2023 presidential election.

According to news reports, Obi was the Labour Party (LP) candidate, while Atiku was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria, which took place on Saturday, February 25.

However, according to the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) early Wednesday morning, the poll was won by the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, with Atiku and Obi finishing second and third, respectively.

Yet, in separate press conferences on Thursday concerning the election results, Atiku and Obi claimed to have won and promised to retrieve their mandates through the legal process.

In response to the allegations, Oshiomhole told Channels TV on Thursday that one of the two candidates must be lying because neither can win at the same time.

According to the former APC chairman, both Atiku and Obi are accusing one other of rigging the election.

He stated Tinubu won the contest fairly and squarely, but the other top contenders refuse to admit loss.

In his words, “Between His Excellency Peter Obi my very good friend and His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, one of them must be lying. That is clear by the fact that Atiku who came second said he won, Obi who came third said no he is the one who won.

“So, between the two of them, they must be trying to rig each other out, so one of them must be lying and when they go to court I am sure that is one thing that will be showing when you have two people claiming victory. So, they are indirectly accusing one another of rigging each other out even for the second position.”

The former Edo State governor, on the other hand, praised the two presidential contenders for putting Nigeria first and obeying the law.
