Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the recently ended election, has filed a petition before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja, challenging the electoral commission’s proclamation of Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the winner.
The suit, designated CA/PEC/02m/2023, was seen by newsmen, with Peter Obi, Labour Party, LP, as the plaintiff and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Bola Tinubu, and the All Progressives Congress as the defendants.
On Wednesday, the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, proclaimed Tinubu the winner of the presidential race. Tinubu had also received a certificate of return from the election commission.

Obi, on the other hand, declared victory in the 2023 presidential election.
He claims he was stolen of his mandate, which he can only reclaim in court.
According to news reports, the former Anambra State governor addressed at a world press conference on Thursday.
“We’ll explore all legal options to retrieve our mandate. We won the election. I’m fully committed to a better future for the country, and nothing can stop that,” he said.
