The purpose of the meeting was not revealed to journalists, but they were asked to cover the opening.

This meeting will take place exactly one week after the presidential and National Assembly elections, as well as one week before the gubernatorial and state legislature elections.

The INEC Chairman stated in his opening remarks that the meeting is to examine performance during the previous week’s elections, and that there are lessons to be learned, particularly in terms of logistics management.

He encouraged the RECs to work harder to guarantee that the governorship elections do not have the same flaws as the previous elections, and he called for staff who erred to be disciplined.
