Whitney Adeniran died on February 9, 2023, at Agege Stadium, during the school’s inter-house sports competition.

The school on Sunday, in a now deleted post on social media said, ‘‘WE ARE SORRY. We are deeply saddened and sorry about Whitney’s death. We are remorseful and sorry to Whitney’s parents. We are sorry to the community that hosts our school and Nigeria at large. It was a huge loss to Chrisland.

“We equally express apology to another critical stakeholder, Nigeria Media, for unbearably quiet signals. We have been quiet because Whitney’s death was so shocking, we opted more for introspection and moral rectitude than strutting around the media space to seize narratives. We considered it imperative to allow the entire Adeniran family the honour of their privacy.”

While denying the school’s intention to exhume Whitney’s body. “We have no such strategy and tell the public that we will not subscribe to anything that depict such callous optics that impede our beautiful daughter from resting,” the management said.

“We have continued to engage the Adenirans. We shall always be there with them to navigate this dark period. To all those who have stood truly by us and the family at this trying moment, we convey our sincere gratitude.”

Nevertheless, the school withdrew the picture from its Instagram page after Whitney’s mother, Blessing Adeniran, stated that the school never loved her daughter because the inter-house sports competition continued on the day she died.
