Peter Obi Reacts Over The Death Of Archbishop Anikwenwa

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate for 2023, has expressed condolences over the death of Archbishop Maxwell Anikwenwa, the former Prelate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion (Rtd).

According to a press release published by the Church of Nigeria’s Secretary General, Bishop Anthony Poggo, Anikwenwa died on Monday at the age of 83.

According to news reports, the deceased was the former Dean of the Church of Nigeria and the Retired Bishop of the Diocese of Awka.

Obi hailed the former Prelate’s death as a “sad loss in all dimensions” in a series of tweets on Monday via his Twitter account.

According to the LP’s flagbearer, Anikwenwa was an urbane priest, a brilliant administrator, and a patriot who cherished human progress in all of its positive facets.

He recalls working closely with the deceased during his campaign for Anambra State governor and maintaining contact with him to this day.

According to the former Governor of Anambra State, Anikwenwa remained devoted to a better Nigeria and will be much mourned and warmly remembered.

Obi, on the other hand, expressed his condolences to the immediate family and the Church of Nigeria for the irreplaceable loss.

He wrote: “I was just informed of the death of Archbishop Maxwell Anikwenwa (Rtd). His passing is certainly a painful loss in all ramifications. Archbishop Anikwenwa, an urbane clergyman was a consummate administrator and a patriot who loved human progress in all of its positive dimensions.

“I have worked closely with him since 2002 when I started campaigning for the position of Anambra State governor till date. He remained committed to a better Nigeria. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.

“May God Almighty, who called him home grant him eternal rest in His Kingdom; and also grant the immediate family, the Church of Nigeria, and all of us the fortitude to bear his irreplaceable loss. May God Almighty bless the Church of Nigeria always. -PO”
