Garba Shehu, Presidential Spokesman, has stated that the idea that Nigerian governors are gods has been debunked by the recently concluded presidential election.

On Thursday’s Arise News Morning Program, Shehu stated that several governors lost their senatorial aspirations because the will of the people prevailed and the election could not be manipulated.

The president’s spokesman went on to say that the concept that after governors conclude their terms, they are entitled to move to the Senate has been debunked.

“But we have seen several of them lose their senatorial bids because, ultimately, it is the will of the people that count.”

Furthermore, Shehu stated that any attempt by some governors to rig the March 18 governorship and state assembly elections will be met with resistance by security agents, and they will not be able to exert god-like power over the outcome of the exercise.

The presidential spokesman also stated that law enforcement will crack down on any acts of voter intimidation or violence during Saturday’s elections.
