President Muhammadu Buhari has signed a number of constitutional amendment measures into law.

Ahmed Wase, the Deputy Speaker, announced this in a statement on Friday.

One of the laws requires presidents and governors to submit the names of persons nominated as Ministers or Commissioners to the Senate or State House of Assembly for confirmation within sixty days after taking the oath of office.

It should be noted that President Buhari was widely chastised in 2015 for waiting six months to pick ministers.

President Buhari also signed laws that remove railway, energy generating, and jail services from the exclusive legislative list.

This means that states can generate and distribute power as well as run railways without obtaining approval from the federal government.

Another provision granted financial independence to state legislatures and the judiciary.
