Asma’u Ignanus, the only female representative in the Gombe State House of Assembly and a member of the APC, lost her race for reelection.
In the assembly election held on March 18 on Saturday, the People’s Democratic Party’s Ayala Pilate defeated incumbent Ignanus, who represents the Shongom Constituency in the State House of Assembly.

The PDP won four of the 24 seats in the Gombe State House of Assembly, according to a list made public by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Tuesday.
Ignanus, who is former Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, was formerly in the PDP but defected to the APC after winning her election in 2019.
