Governor-elect Peter Mbah and Deputy Governor-elect Ifeanyi Ossai paid homage to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi at the Government House in Enugu on Wednesday night to congratulate him for their election victory.

The speaker of the Enugu House of Assembly, Edward Ubosi, the PDP chairman of the state, Augustine Nnamani, a lawmaker in the Senate, Gil Nnaji, and the lawmakers representing Enugu East/Isi-Uzo and Enugu North/South federal constituencies, Cornelius Nnaji and Ofor Chukwuegbo, were present to greet the visitors.

Those in attendance included the state secretary, Simon Ortuanya; the deputy chief of staff, Malachy Okwueze; the finance commissioner, Adaonah Kene-Uyanwune; and special advisers to the governor on special responsibilities and information, Uwakwe Azikiwe and Steve Oruruo, among others.

Mr Mbah had previously made a thank-you visit to Enugu indigenes and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters who had held INEC offices in Enugu since March 20, demanding the results of the March 18 governorship poll.

Mr Mbah was declared the winner of the race by INEC last night, with 160,895 votes, defeating his nearest challenger, Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party, who received 157,552 votes.
