Senator Shehu Sani has stated that even if the Peoples Democratic Party’s Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, had resigned, the outcome of the presidential election would not have favored the PDP.

This was expressed by the social analyst in a tweet in response to the present leadership crisis rocking the main opposition party.

Prior to the 2016 elections, at least five PDP governors sought Ayu’s resignation as the only condition for working for the party’s presidential nominee, Atiku Abubakar.

Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers State and Leader of the G-5, praised his team for guaranteeing Atiku’s defeat in the polls that delivered Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the winner.

In the post, Shehu claimed that if the G-5 had worked for Atiku, nothing would have changed, given their inability to win elections in their respective states.

Sani wrote, “The fact is that even if Ayu had stepped down before the election, nothing much could have changed because those opposed to him were also struggling to survive and in the end, could not help themselves much.
