The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has stated its willingness to investigate an alleged usage of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV) by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to steal public funds for his personal use during President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration.

Michael Achimugu, a former aide to Atiku, has claimed that the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate utilized SPV as Vice President between 1999 and 2007 to transfer N100 million purportedly wired into his account by former Plateau State Governor Joshua Dariye.

According to Achimugu, what the PDP flagbearer told him about the fund during a conversation astonished him.

The Bureau has also requested Festus Keyamo, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, to come out and support his petition in order to secure the attendance of the whistleblower, Achimugu, to aid in the inquiry.

In a tweet on Thursday, Keyamo stressed that the struggle for accountability on this matter was not a campaign ploy, promising to see it through to a logical end even after the election of President-Elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

A copy of the investigation and invitation letter delivered to Keyamo by the CCB in Abuja today is provided below.
