Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State has stated that he has always held his administration accountable for its expenses.

Chuks Oko, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Strategy, stated this on Monday in response to the planned meeting between the governors and several major government agencies.

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) will meet with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) on Tuesday, according to reports (FIRS).

The two anti-graft authorities, the CBN and FIRS, are expected to meet with the governors to discuss how they spent their security votes while in office.

Furthermore, the summit will explore strengthening and expanding the cashless policy that went into force with the redesign of the national currency in order to further the financial inclusion of all citizens in the succeeding scheme of things in the future.

Oko told Newsmen that the Ebonyi governor runs a wise and transparent government, emphasizing that the governor has nothing to hide from anti-graft authorities.

He said: “We have always been accountable for what we spend. The Governor runs a prudent and transparent government.

“There is nothing strange in explaining how money is spent in this administration, it is something handy that we have no issues handling.”
