Police Recover Pistols From Delta Tricycle Passenger

During a stop-and-search operation, Delta State Police Command agents detained Joseph Vincent, a suspected armed robber.

ANAEDOONLINE According to Metro, the suspect was taken into custody on Sunday morning about 10 a.m. along Jeremi Iwhrekan road in the state’s Ughelli South Local Government Area.

According to a statement released on Thursday by the state police public relations officer, DSP Bright Edafe, members of Dragon 18 and 29 were conducting a stop-and-search operation along Jeremi/Iwhrekan Road in the Ughelli South Local Government Area when they stopped a tricycle being driven by Isreal Sibito and carrying three female and one male passengers. The tricycle had the licence plate GBB 022 UN.

“While the search was being carried out, the male passenger who was later identified as Joseph Vincent, aged 24 years, jumped down from the tricycle and ran into a nearby bush in an attempt to escape, and he was given a hot chase by the operatives and was arrested,” the police spokesman stated.

The PPRO disclosed that when a search was conducted on the suspect, two locally-fabricated Berretta pistols were recovered from him.

The police spokesman said an investigation was ongoing in the matter.
