Kogi PDP Primaries: Makarfi Appointed As Chairman Of Electoral Committee

Sen. Ahmed Makarfi, a former governor of Kaduna State, has been named by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the chairman of the Kogi State governorship primary.

The PDP candidate for governor of Kogi State on November 11 will be chosen in the primary election scheduled for Sunday in Lokoja, the state capital.

Umar Bature, the PDP National Organising Secretary, confirmed Makarfi’s appointment to head the electoral committee in a statement.

The seven-person group will be led by Toyin Mark, Ikechukwu Nwosu, Deolu Harrison, Usman Ibrahim, and Anthony Onwuka, according to the statement’s addition. Laureta Ogwuche will serve as the committee’s secretary.

The committee was urged to adhere fully to “the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended), the electoral rules for party primary elections and the 2022 Electoral Act,” according to the statement.

“It is expected that your exemplary conduct and strict adherence to rules and regulations during your assignment will justify the confidence reposed in you by the leadership of the party.”

Ahmed Usman Ododo, a former Auditor General for Local Governments in Kogi State, has won the APC’s (All Progressives Congress) primary for governor.

According to news sources, the APC’s direct primary for governor took place in the State on Friday.

Ododo won the governorship with 78,704 votes, besting the other six candidates.

Ododo defeated Mohammed Ozigi Salami, who finished in a distant second place, with 1,506 votes, while Smart Adeyemi, who represents the Kogi West Senatorial District, had the fewest votes with 311.

Ahmed Usman Ododo was proclaimed the victor of the gubernatorial primary election by Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon, secretary of the Kogi State APC Primary Election Committee, on behalf of the panel’s chairman, Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State.
