High Chief Oweizide Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, a former militant commander, waxed spiritual today by urging Nigerians, particularly politicians, traditional leaders, and the church, to always act morally.

During the grand finale of the 2023 Amaseikumor annual festival, which was held in the Oporoza community of the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, Tompolo made the appeal to the press media.

He said: “My message to everybody and Nigerians [is] everybody should do the right thing. Be you a politician, traditional ruler, or pastor, everybody should stand by the truth.”

Tompolo, who joined his relatives in celebrating the 2023 Amaseikumor yearly Festival, claimed that the event promotes peace and progress throughout the Ijaw nation.

He met HRM Oboro Gbaraun II, the Pere of the Gbaramatu Kingdom, who was present at the celebration along with other kings from the Niger Delta, before starting to adorn masquerades with naira notes.

The Gbaramatu Kingdom’s ruler bestowed chieftaincy titles on nine people during this year’s festivities. Among the notable recipients of the “Agadiwei” title was Chief Michael Johnny, the leader of the All Progressives Congress, or APC.

Chief Michael Johnny, who spoke on behalf of the new chiefs, promised in his acceptance address that they would use their titles to draw more development to Gbaramatu Kingdom.

Earlier, the Fiowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Chief Godspower Gbenekama during his admonition reminded the new chiefs: “You don’t use our traditional title to woo women. It’s an abomination if you do that. Don’t come and flaunt your riches here. Don’t use your title in the market places. If you do, the King will deal decisively with you. No title is hereditary.”

The Esaba community defeated Oporoza community by a single goal in the football game that was played as part of the 2023 Amaseikumor festival.
