The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Mohammed Usain Gumel has banned protests across the state. Anaedoonline.ng gathered that Gumel gave the directive after members of the ruling New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) and the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) asked their supporters to protest over alleged bribery of the judiciary. According to Gumel, any attempt to disobey the directive would be treated as an offence against National Security.

LP’s Afam Ogene Wins PDP, APGA In Ogbaru Federal Constituency Supplementary Election

Hon. Afam Victor Ogene, a Labour Party (LP) candidate, has been proclaimed the victor of the Ogbaru Federal Federal House of Representatives election in Anambra State.

Hon. Afam Victor Ogene defeats Hon. Chukwuma Onyema, a third-term member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who currently represents the constituency in the House of Representatives.

According to results announced by the Returning Officer, Professor Kingsley Ubaorji of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Hon. Afam Ogene of the Labour Party received 10,851 votes out of the total votes cast, followed by Hon. Chukwuma Wilfred Onyema of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 10,619 votes.

According to Federal Constituency Returning Officer, Hon Arinze John Awogu of APGA came third with 10,155 votes.

Other Candidates scored as follows: Hon Mrs Nkechi Ismade of APC scored 303 votes, Nwachukwu Victor of ADC scored 39 votes, Obunne Celestine of NNPP scored 124 votes while Nwadialor C of SDP scored 27.

“That Hon Afam Ogene of the Labour Party, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes cast is declared winner of the election,” the Returning Officer announced.

APGA came in second, next came the LP, then the PDP took the lead with almost a thousand votes earlier in the supplementary election.

However, when the results were compared to the results of the last election on February 25, the Labour Party candidate won, followed by the PDP candidate and the APGA as the second and third place finishers.
