Popoola Olasupo, a member of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, and another official were abducted by unidentified gunmen while they were travelling to their places of employment.

In the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, Olasupo was reportedly abducted at 6.30 am on Sunday near the Eledumare-Fidiwo axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Motorway.

The kidnapping was confirmed by a TRACE source who asked to remain anonymous due to the sensitivity of the situation.

It was further gathered that policemen and some volunteers are currently on the trail of the gunmen.
The source said the gunmen, who emerged from the bush, opened fire on a commercial bus in which the official was travelling and he was the only one abducted.

Efforts to get the reaction of the spokesperson for TRACE, Babatunde Akinbiyi, were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.

Akinbiyi did not answer the calls made to his mobile and had not responded to a text message sent to him.
When contacted, however, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.

“Our anti-kidnapping squad is already after them. We are combing the forest and we know that they will all be arrested.

“Ogun State is not a ground for criminals to settle. It is either they leave or we smoke them out of this state,” Oyeyemi said.
