On the Nteje-Onitsha Motorway in Anambra State, at Tempo, which is 300 yards from Odumodu junction, a traffic accident happened late on Tuesday.

A commercial Toyota Sienna with the licence plate LND502YE and registered to Young Shall Grow Motors was the only vehicle involved in the accident.

Witnesses said that the speeding driver lost control of the car, which somersaulted after hitting a pedestrian crossing the motorway, before crashing.

Four adult males and three adult females were among the seven people who were reportedly engaged in the collision.

According to the reports, one person inside the car and one pedestrian—a woman crossing the street—died, while four adults—four men and one woman—were injured in varied degrees.

Confirming the accident on Wednesday, the acting Sector Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, Margaret Onabe, attributed the possible cause of the crash to excessive speeding.
