Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has encouraged the Nigerian police to look into Aisha Dahiru, also known as Binani, an All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor of Adamawa State.

Newsmen remembers that on Sunday, Binani was wrongfully declared the winner of the state gubernatorial election by Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Barrister Hudu Yunusa.

But the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) promptly refuted the REC’s alleged pronouncement that Binani had won the poll in Adamawa.

The Commission insisted that the REC’s decision was unlawful and had no legal standing because it usurped the Returning Officer’s authority.

In response to the scandal, Falana stated that Binani’s acceptance speech shows that she was aware of the illegal declaration during an interview on Thursday’s episode of Sunrise Daily on Channels Television.

The legal professional suggested that the Police must bring Binani in for interrogation.

He said, ”With respect to the acceptance speech, the acceptance speech already confirmed that she was party to the charade. She has to be brought in by the police and investigated. How did you prepare a speech if you did not know that you were going to be declared the winner because, at that stage, the coalition had not been concluded?

“The last point is the role of NTA, the NTA televised the acceptance speech. I expect the NBC to move in speedily and sanction the NTA because, at that time, collation was still ongoing.”
